Gate hinges V2A V4A

Gate hinges must meet the most diverse requirements: They must be enormously robust and strong to keep gates always at the same angle. In addition, adaptability to a wide variety of mountings must be given. Thus, gate hinges are installed in walls, attached to steel posts or find use in specially designed anchorages.

V2A and V4A stainless steel ensures durable gate hinges

To withstand the most diverse weather conditions 365 days a year, our gate hinges are made of robust stainless steel. We have both V2A (AISI 304 or 1.4301) and V4A (AISI 316 or 1.4401/04) stainless steel in our range. Both are characterized by their particular strength, which is why 33 percent of industrially used steel is now made of them. The steel is acid-resistant and also austenitic. Austenitic describes the property that the mixed crystals of the molecules are modified to be face-centered cubic. This improvement ensures that the steel is absolutely non-malleable, regardless of whether absolute zero or 500 degrees Celsius. The fact that V2A loses its shape at 600 degrees is probably not decisive for the quality of the gate hinges.
The difference to V4A is that V4A is not quite as stable (and can therefore be punched more easily, for example), but remains absolutely corrosion-free. That remains V2A in the use as gate hinges however also, no fear. V4A, however, also meets the requirements for drinking water pipes in households. This is the minimal difference, which should not influence your decision. The explanation of the two types of steel has nothing to do with the quality of the gate hinges, but is only for clarification. Both grades are perfectly suitable for the intended use. It is not for nothing that our assortment consists of the mentioned steel grades. For example, we also offer French balconies or shop-fitting elements made of this building material.

The different models of our gate hinges

Before we go into the differences, first of all the similarities:

• All our models are for welding
• The set screw is adjustable and can therefore support the most diverse gates
• The swing angle is always up to 180 degrees

The differences are in the thickness of the set screw. This is also accompanied by the possible load capacity. So we have in our range gate hinges, which can hold 40 kilograms per pair with M12 screws. Furthermore, our M16 screw models hold 60 kilograms per pair and the M20 screws hold 100 kilograms. With a length of around 5 centimeters, a high degree of flexibility is possible in the gate to be held. This means that even large diameters can be screwed tight. Accordingly, installing several pairs is possible to increase the load capacity linearly.
